Agggh! I love my Firefox, but the fonts started looking awful after a recent Windows 7 and Microsoft Mouse update. I was using FF 19 and having no issue with it before.
I spent a few days trying suggestions from various support forum threads, Mozilla help, and countless website results from Google searches trying to fix it. The broken, blurry fonts made it all but unusable.
Here’s how I finally solved the problem:
- type about:config in the location bar. Promise to be careful.
- search for gfx.content.azure.enabled and click the line to set it to false by clicking on it.
- Restart Firefox.
- Hopefully rejoice!
Yay! There are an awful lot of potential tweaks suggested for this problem, but if they aren’t working for you, maybe this one will.

I don’t know how you managed to work this out but it seems to resize certain pictures that I guess are coming out wrong. I’m having the same problem with Youtube except some video’s are great and some look like they are under water……….

Oh how bizarre! I’m really glad the info helped you though. I just know I didn’t want to give up Firefox as a browser so I was determined to figure it out.
I tried this but unfortunately Firefox kept crashing.
Sorry to hear that! I had more problems with Firefox fonts on the last upgrade that this didn’t seem to fix, unfortunately. I got disgusted and ended up switching to chrome.
